2 year novel class: I'm attempting regular writing

http://zette.blogspot.com/2013/12/sign-up-for-2014-two-year-novel-course.html

Sharing and posting on my phone while toddler watches her Abby. I really miss writing and am going to give Zett's 2 year class another shot. The layout of the course is good, I just have trouble sticking to regular writing.

So wish me luck, and check it out if anyone else is interested.

Googe Earth novel planning

I used to play around with Google Earth awhile back on my computer. Then yesterday I decided to try it out again, this time on my phone. I had been on Google maps and noticed a link to Earth.

As I was scrolling though the Earth I started getting setting ideas for my NaNoWriMo novel idea. Which got me looking more at the app for further ideas. Its like my muse is globe trotting.

A benefit of my phone over the computer is the touch screen. But also the ease of sharing is nice. I've sent a few "shares" from the app to my secret Pinterest novel board. The app allows for saving an image at the current pan / zoom level.

On any platform there are the links to Wikipedia. Thoes can be read and bookmarked as needed.

Playing with pictures

I've found it frustrating to use blogger from my Android phone with doing more than one picture.  Not that I blog tons of images,  but there are times I want a few pictures posted. Especially for my app related posts.

So after a recent app update I thought I'd give this another try. Turns out that I can add more than one image. But it's separate from the text editor. Unlike the wordpress app which lets me choose where I want to have each image within a post.

Here are two pictures from my newest app from the Google play store. Magic Kalideo.

Z is for Zoo

Sights sounds
and of course smells.
Drifting around on a warm spring day.

People milling about, faces pressed against glass
Dark shadows glide by.
"Otter mommy" squeals one girl.
"I see him" another child cries.

Even smaller ones wander about.
Toddler hands waving at wobbling water.

_
We took my 15 month old to the zoo the weekend before last. She watched some of the animals but was more interested in everything else going on around her. Our zoo is pretty cool with some of the water stuff that you can see from below the water level in indoor viewing areas. http://www.senecaparkzoo.org/

Y is for Yarn

The cat finds a string
winding around legs
feet tripping

Sweater knitting
sleeves growing
Colors within pattern

A story told
he met her
she liked him

Growing old together
becoming young again
tales wild and strange

__
Yes, catch up time for the two last posts for A to Z. Last week got busy, so here they are.

X is for Xenomorphic

Shape not defined
Water flowing over rocks
Tumbling twirling misting
Falling into pools and ponds

Light warming trees
Glowing growing
Bathing the world in color

Energy driving toddler
Little legs pumping in exploration
Running roaming starting stopping.
Squat down to poke
At leaf trembling on ground
Next to puddle of water.

Crinkle splash.

_
Had no idea what to write today so I googled words that start with X.

W is for Writing

A sign once said:
"Dance is the only art
In which we are the media"

True as that may be
Any art has self as main force.
Like writing.

The writer uses words
Words from the soul
Words from our core
Poured onto the page
Crafted yes.
But thought out. Planned. Revised.
Still us.

V is for Vow

I vow to you daughter of mine
To be there in good times and tough times
When you are well, and when you are sick.
When you are giggling happily with glee
When your face is scrunched with tears
When we are awake during the day
When you need me during the depths of night
I make this promise to you, daughter of mine
I know your needs will be many
And I will have to arrange around them wants of mine
But joy and love you bring
Daughter of mine
In the deapths of the night
In the light of day
Your many moods, our many joys
Growing changing,
Excited in your new skills.

Adults make vows to each other, but what about to a baby, a totally dependent human being? That got me thinking about writing something like this.

U is for Understanding

New knowledge?
Facts that have been learned
Facts remembered
Points of data previously not known
Rote recall

A challenge occurs
Facts not remembered
Lesson not learned

Another challenge
Facts put to use
In a different way even
Knowledge becomes understanding

-

Ya, random poem of random.

T is for Time

Second hand on the clock
Ticking back and forth, back and forth
never moving forward.
Passage of time stalled
A moment paused
Plastic plant, never changing
Always green
Leaves always lifted
A moment waiting

Q is for Q words

Q
High scoring scrabble letter
don’t know what to do
most times you need your friend U
long words
short words
Even words with W

-
I could have looked up Q words to see what fit, but this was fun.

I'm still thinking of the car post. It may be more of a random musing v an actual poem.

P is for Picture #atozchallenge

Picture in time
Never changing
Moment captured

O is for opportunity #atozchallenge

Opportunity abounds
If only know where to look
If only take a chance
If only try something new
Stretch yourself
Challenge yourself
Opening up into something new.

-
This almost became "oh what to name a car" thanks to my musings on the way home. But I'd already jotted most of this down on paper while waiting for my workout class to start.

Though the car bit may come up here or there sometime. It was rather geeky. And maybe sort of funny, probably more on a local level.

N is for No way to say

After the tragedy in Boston yesterday I'm not in a poem mood. I just don't know what to say.

Yesterday was also a day of honoring the Webster Firefighters shot on Christmas eve. I'd been thinking of Webster on my way to work.

No way to say, how to wrap my head around tragedy upon tragedy. Bloody pictures splattered across the media outlets for a brief focused time. Then forgetting the people, the families, the communities paths to healing.

M is for Movement #atozchallenge

Grasses dancing and waving in the wind
Puffy white clouds gliding across a shimmering sky
Birds swooping diving circling soaring. Landing
Webbed feet skate on glistening water

-
I was looking at a picture of a tree shadow when this idea came to me.

L is for Light #AtoZChallenge

Vivid reds, glowing yellows

K is for Knot #AtoZChallenge

A knot is not a not
A knot is a knot
string tied, not a 1990s sarcastic catchphrase

_

Ya, I'm uninspired today, and wanted to do something random silly and quick so I have some time to visit other blogs. A quick scan of this didn't help Words starting with K.

J is for Joy #AtoZChallenge

Sun shining over newly greened grass
leaves budding on tree branches
A neighboorhood awakening from winter slumber
Friends catching up over walks

New steps toddling along snow free street,
stepping on old fall leaves
Crinkle crunch, smile.

-
Quick really free verse poem today. Getting a bit distracted over lunch, hopefully I'll get some blog visits in today.

H is Hope

Whispers of Hope

Evening stretches into night
Another phase of the moon slips by
Awake I lie
Whispers in the heavy darkness
"Is this time my Hope?"
Whispers heard only by me.

More evenings, more nights
Darkness mixed with whispers.
Times missed, whispers still asking.

Whispers answering
Internal apple seed.
Is that you, Hope?

Picture on the dark screen.
Little girl now whispering.
Yes it is me.
I've been waiting for you.

_
I'm using a poem I wrote awhile back. When I was thinking of H coming up I just had to use this.

G is for Gulls #AtoZChallenge

Gulls outside my widow
cries herald the coming of summer.
Flashes of white against a blue sky
Swooping wings outstretched riding ever warning winds
carrying the scents of a summer

_
Quick poem today, mostly comprised of a few thoughts I had earlier which I jotted down.

Saturday, April 6, 2013

F is for Forward

Moving forward
One foot in front of another
Learning new things
Day break
Changes changing
Rebirth renewal
Starting fresh and new
Dew on newly green grass.

-
Quick one today, sort of uninspired of course I was thinking G for awhile.

E is for Evening

Bird song fades
Sun descends from it's place
high in the sky

Cool breezes pick up
Swirling the leftover leaves
newly uncovered from melting snow
Crackle with motion not had in fall

Stillness sourounds
stars pierce the growing darkness
Frog song sounds

__
I first heard the "Peepers" this year Easter evening. Nothing says spring like these guys.

D is for Dawn

Dawn arrives a bit sooner each day
Sunlight rising over budding branches
Each morning I'm closer to work
as the streetlights wink out to the morning light

Just this morning
spectacular lighted views
Climbing hill top
Out of valley shadow
and into warm light of dawn

Glowing budding branches

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

C is for cat

Meow
Stretch and pose
Fuzzy face turned skyward
Tail twitching body relaxing
Curling into a ball
Tail surrounds

B is for Blossom

Buds swelling,
Little leaves unfurling.
Blossoms blooming,
pops of yellow and green on brown
contrasting the swirling snow.
Vase on my window sill
The promise of spring through this last bit of winter.

--
This one has been swirling around in my head for awhile, and it's fitting today with our snow. Even though the forsythia branch on my desk is just about done.

A to Z Blog Challenge

I've been on the fence for awhile about the challenge. Last year I was in over my head and didn't finish. I made it the year before and had told myself I'd write my posts ahead. Of course April snunk up on me and I was writing posts on the fly with a three month old baby at home.

I decided today that I'll take the plunge and give this year a try. I just signed up on my lunch, and even have an idea. I'm going to post poems, the title and or theme of which can be the correct letter for the day. And ya, I'm not going to have everything written ahead. But poems should be easier than short stories. Yes?
